  • A set of small objects or cards with pictures representing words starting with different letters

How to play:

  1. Spread out the picture cards face down near the rug.
  2. One child picks a card and looks at the picture without showing others.
  3. The child says: "I'm thinking of a word that starts with the sound..." and makes the initial sound of the word.
  4. Other children take turns hopping to the letter on the rug they think matches that sound.
  5. The child with the card reveals the picture and word, confirming the correct letter.
  6. The first child to hop to the right letter gets to pick the next card.
