The Mount Shasta Solid Color Rug is a 30oz cut pile area rug in four colors featuring Cocoa, Blue Skies, Wolf Grey, and Ocean Blue. Built for institutional environments where durability, ease of cleaning, and visual calm are the priorities.

The fiber construction is 100% solution-dyed polypropylene, which makes this rug meaningfully different from the nylon-based rugs that make up most of the solid color classroom rug category. The technical differences are practical ones that affect how the rug performs over its full lifespan.

Solution-Dyed Polypropylene: What It Means in Practice

Most commercial classroom rugs use nylon fiber with a surface dye process, where color is applied to the outside of the fiber after it is made. Solution-dyed polypropylene works differently: the color pigment is added to the molten polymer before the fiber is extruded, which means the color runs through the full cross-section of every strand rather than sitting on the surface.

The practical consequences are significant. The rug is fully bleach resistant - cleaning with bleach-based disinfectants will not affect the color. This is a meaningful advantage in healthcare and therapy settings with stringent cleaning protocols. Fade resistance under direct sunlight is also maximized, which matters for rugs placed near windows or in sun-exposed rooms.
