Sunny Slice and the Sweet Surprise
Posted by Ed Shapiro on
Every morning in the Fruit Patch Classroom, the fruit friends would wake up with a giggle and a wiggle. But none were as bright or as bouncy as Sunny Slice, a cheerful citrus critter with a sweet strawberry cap and orange-peel feet that squeaked when he danced.
Sunny Slice loved helping others. If a grape was gloomy, he'd roll right over and say, “Let’s peel back that frown!” If a banana needed cheering up, he’d do his famous “twist and wiggle” dance that made everyone burst out laughing.
One sunny Monday, Sunny Slice noticed that the blueberries were missing from their usual rug spot. “That’s strange,” he said with a squint. “Blueberries are never late!”
So, he gathered his best friends, Lulu Lime Leaf, Taffy Tangerine Toes, and Berry the Strawberry Cap, and rolled down the rug trail to find them.
Along the way, they passed the Strawberry Row, Lemon Lane, and Kiwi Corner. Still no blueberries.
Just when they were about to give up, they heard tiny giggles from behind the Rainbow Reading Rug. There, hidden behind a pile of picture books, were the blueberries, decorating a big sign that read:
“HAPPY FRUIT FRIENDS DAY!”
The blueberries popped out, smiling wide. “We wanted to surprise you, Sunny Slice! Because you always make our days sweet and sunny.”
Sunny’s eyes sparkled like dewdrops on a lemon leaf. “You sneaky little berries!” he laughed. “This is the juiciest surprise ever!”
They all celebrated with a dance party across the rug—feet bouncing, leaves waving, and lots of strawberry twirls.
From that day forward, the Fruit Patch Classroom started every week with a Fruit Friend Shout-Out, where everyone celebrated someone who made their day brighter.
And guess what? Sunny Slice was the first to cheer the loudest.
Because when you spread kindness like sunshine… the whole classroom grows a little sweeter.
Moral:
Even the smallest act of sweetness can turn an ordinary day into something berry special. 🍓🍊🍋
