Description

The Number Fun Wall Activity Toy is a square wall-mounted number activity panel in which children use two magnetic wands to move colorful numbered pieces around inside a tempered safety glass enclosure. The pieces stay completely behind the glass at all times - children interact with them only through the magnetic wands, which are permanently mounted to the wooden frame.

The result is a hands-on number and counting activity with no loose pieces to manage, no parts to pick up between users, and no risk of pieces leaving the panel. Available with a wood frame in Blue, Natural, Red, or Green. Made by Gressco. Item Y1061803.

How the Magnetic Wand Mechanism Works

Each of the two wands is permanently tethered to the wooden frame, so they are always present and always ready. Children hold a wand against the glass surface and drag it to pull the magnetic pieces underneath through the enclosure. Because the pieces never leave the glass panel, there is nothing for a child to drop, throw, or walk away with, and there is nothing for staff to collect or reset between users.

Two wands means two children can play simultaneously, which is a practical advantage in a waiting room where siblings often arrive together.

Number Recognition and Counting Through Play

The numbered pieces give children a counting and number recognition activity that emerges naturally from the play rather than being imposed on it. A child who is moving pieces with a magnetic wand is already engaged; the numbers on the pieces become part of the interaction as children notice them, name them, and arrange them in sequences.

For children who are working on number recognition in a preschool or therapy context, the magnetic wand format provides fine motor practice alongside the cognitive number work in a single activity.

Cooperative Play Without Conflict

Two mounted wands and a shared panel naturally invite cooperative or parallel play. Children can work together to move pieces toward a shared goal, take turns controlling different areas of the panel, or invent their own games around the numbered pieces.

This social dimension is not available on single-wand or solo-use panels, and it makes the Number Fun toy particularly well suited to waiting room and classroom environments where managing group dynamics is a daily concern.

Where These Work Best
Pediatric waiting rooms

The compact 17½" square format fits on a wall column, beside a doorframe, or in a narrow corridor where a larger panel would not work. The no-loose-parts design eliminates the hygiene and management concerns of table-based number toys. Two wands means siblings or friends can play together without fighting over a single tool, which is a practical benefit in a waiting room context.

Pre-K and kindergarten math centers

Mounted at child height in a math center or transition zone, the panel gives children a self-directed number activity that does not require teacher setup or monitoring. The magnetic wand mechanism builds fine motor control alongside the number recognition work, which covers two developmental goals in a single station visit. The four frame color options allow the panel to be matched to a classroom's existing color scheme.

Occupational therapy and early intervention rooms

The magnetic wand requires a sustained grip and controlled directional movement, both of which are fine motor targets in OT and early intervention sessions. The tempered glass enclosure means the activity is hygienic and safe for clinical use, and the numbered pieces give therapists a built-in cognitive component to layer onto the motor activity when appropriate for the child's goals.

Cleaning Your Waiting Area Toys

Keeping waiting area toys clean is simple when you use the right products. Our wall toys and activity panels are built with smooth, hard surfaces specifically designed to clean quickly and safely alongside other high-contact surfaces in your facility.

We recommend hospital-grade disinfectant wipes such as those from the PDI line, which are widely used in medical, dental, and therapy settings. When choosing a disinfectant wipe for your waiting area toys, look for the following:

Effective against germs Choose wipes that clearly state effectiveness against common bacteria and viruses. This information is listed on the packaging based on the wipe's active ingredients.
Safe for children and staff Look for wipes labeled safe for use in environments where children are present. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions, including any hand-washing recommendations after use.
Low odor and low residue Modern disinfectant wipes are designed to clean thoroughly without leaving harsh chemical fumes or irritating residue, making them ideal for enclosed spaces like waiting rooms and therapy clinics.
Fast drying Most hospital-grade wipes air dry within approximately 90 seconds, allowing toys to be returned to use immediately with minimal downtime for your staff.
Surface compatible Always confirm the wipe is appropriate for the surface being cleaned. Some formulations are not recommended for certain finishes, so checking the label prevents surface damage over time.
Environmentally conscious Many disinfectant wipes are now made with biodegradable materials and reduced chemical concentrations, offering strong cleaning performance with a lower environmental footprint.

Using the right disinfectant wipes keeps your waiting area toys clean, safe, and ready for the next child, while protecting both your patients and your staff. If you have questions about cleaning a specific product, we are always happy to help at help@sensoryedge.com or 800-734-8019.
