Lime Slice Heat Sensitive Wall Panel

The Lime Slice Heat Sensitive Wall Panel turns body heat into visible play. Press a hand flat against the matte black center surface and watch the color shift as the panel responds to warmth. Lift your hands and the panel slowly resets. The outer ring is printed in vivid lime green citrus detail, giving the panel a bold, immediately recognizable look that draws children in before they even touch it.

At 18 inches in diameter, the panel is sized for children from toddlers to early elementary. Two children can use it simultaneously side by side, pressing palms and tracing fingers to compare handprints, race color changes, and discover how quickly the surface responds to different amounts of pressure and warmth.

Designed for Healthcare, Not Adapted for It

Infection Control

The play surface is covered by a tough, abrasion-resistant film that wipes clean with the same disinfectants used on exam tables, chairs, and other high-contact clinical surfaces. No fabric, no crevices, no loose components. The panel was engineered for healthcare environments from the ground up, which means infection control is built into the design rather than bolted on after the fact.

Waiting Room and Clinic Performance

The heat-sensitive surface engages children immediately and holds their attention longer than a static panel. There are no buttons to break, no beads to pull off, and no batteries to replace. The color shift resets on its own and the panel is ready for the next child without any staff intervention. It works equally well in pediatric waiting rooms, WIC offices, school health clinics, and children's therapy suites.

Sensory and Developmental Value

The panel introduces cause and effect in its most immediate form: touch and watch what happens. Children press harder, softer, with one finger, with both palms. They compare handprints, trace shapes, and observe color dissipate when they lift their hands. For children with sensory processing needs, the panel offers a controlled, non-threatening tactile and visual experience that occupational therapists and sensory-aware staff can easily incorporate into a visit.

Temperature Performance Note

For best color-change response, the panel performs in rooms kept between 68 and 73°F. A sluggish response generally indicates the room is cooler than ideal. If the surface displays color when not being touched, the room is warmer than the recommended range. Both conditions are normal and resolve as room temperature adjusts.

Cleaning Waiting Area Toys

Keeping waiting area toys clean is simple when you use the right products. Our wall toys and activity panels are built with smooth, hard surfaces specifically designed to clean quickly and safely alongside other high-contact surfaces in your facility.

We recommend hospital-grade disinfectant wipes such as those from the PDI line, which are widely used in medical, dental, and therapy settings. When choosing a disinfectant wipe for your waiting area toys, look for the following:

Effective against germs Choose wipes that clearly state effectiveness against common bacteria and viruses. This information is listed on the packaging based on the wipe's active ingredients.
Safe for children and staff Look for wipes labeled safe for use in environments where children are present. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions, including any hand-washing recommendations after use.
Low odor and low residue Modern disinfectant wipes are designed to clean thoroughly without leaving harsh chemical fumes or irritating residue, making them ideal for enclosed spaces like waiting rooms and therapy clinics.
Fast drying Most hospital-grade wipes air dry within approximately 90 seconds, allowing toys to be returned to use immediately with minimal downtime for your staff.
Surface compatible Always confirm the wipe is appropriate for the surface being cleaned. Some formulations are not recommended for certain finishes, so checking the label prevents surface damage over time.
Environmentally conscious Many disinfectant wipes are now made with biodegradable materials and reduced chemical concentrations, offering strong cleaning performance with a lower environmental footprint.

Using the right disinfectant wipes keeps your waiting area toys clean, safe, and ready for the next child, while protecting both your patients and your staff. If you have questions about cleaning a specific product, we are always happy to help at help@sensoryedge.com or 800-734-8019.
