Galvin & Fils 68 Piece Wood Block Set

This 68 Piece Unit Wood Block Kit has 15 shapes and is suitable for young kids 2 and up. At this age, children begin to make things, though the connection may be a bit mysterious. The also spend a lot of time matching the block footprints and struggle with lining the blocks up perfectly.

A milestone for young kids is making a box structure with four sides and a top, then balance one piece on another. They may be able to identify two different triangles by that name, but they may not be able to tell you why. It is satisfying to spend time with your children, showing them what to do with the blocks, and enjoying their progress in coordination.

Galvin & Fils wood blocks are completely unfinished. They don't pose a choking hazard and satisfy the CPSC rules for children under the age of three. The blocks are sanded maple, and children can gum them without fear of chemical finishes or oils. They may be cleaned with a damp sponge or sanded with a fine sandpaper, but they shouldn't be allowed to soak as they will absorb water.

The hand in the picture is a adult life size prop to provide a sense of scale. It doesn't come in the kit
